Royal Doulton
A pair of ceramic handpianted greater scaup ducks (Male and Female) designed in 1979 by Lem Ward as part of Wildfowl Counterfeits, A series of decoy ducks produced with American collectors in mind. The name Counterfeit refers to the fact they are a model of a decoy bird. The Doulton model numbers 2620 and 2621 are imprinted to the bases.
Produced between 1979 to 1985.
The designer Lemuel Ward and his brother Steven, set up a workshop in Crisfeild Maryland producing handmade decoys which today are seen as masterpieces and earned the title of Wildfowl Counterfitters in Wood.
A pair of Ward Bros Wigeon Decoys was sold in 2019 by Copley Fine Art Auctions, Boston, USA for $228.000
